Journal Club
We present a monthly journal club, which has been a success since we began in October of 1999. We have been pleased with the outcome of our meetings and are looking forward to more participation. If you were present at previous meetings, thank you again for your support. If you were not able to attend, we hope you try us this time. Articles will be forwarded by e-mail for your review prior to the meeting. The presenters of each article will have been assigned, but we urge all participants to read the articles before in order to participate in the discussions.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, August 14, 2008. Dinner will start at 6:30 pm and the meeting will start at 7:00 pm. The articles being discussed at this meeting are as follows:
  1. Predictors of Short-term Recovery Differ From Those of Long-term Outcome After Arthroscopic Partial Meniscectomy.

  2. Absorption of Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate in Human Connective Tissue Using Iontophoresis.

  3. Trunk Position Influences the Kinematics, Kinetics, and Muscle Activity of the Lead Lower Extremity During the Forward Lunge Exercise.

Please phone Jean at 920-993-1643 or email jean@thesportsmedcenter.com if you will be attending. We will then make the articles available for you and your group. If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to call.

Family Practice Residency Program
The Sports Medicine Center is an affiliate of the Fox Valley Family Practice Residency Program from the University of Wisconsin. Residents are assigned to a month long rotation with Dr. Mologne and Dr. Mejia. This program provides an opportunity for the residents to be exposed to office-based treatment of common and complex musculoskeletal conditions that family physicians frequently encounter in their offices. This unique experience allows the residents to observe and practice a musculoskeletal specialist's approach in the evaluation, examination, diagnosis and treatment of these conditions. In addition, the resident spends ample time with the orthopedic surgeons in the operating room, observing the surgical aspects of treating musculoskeletal disorders. The exposure to the clinical and surgical aspects of treatment provides a wide perspective of the spectrum of orthopedic problems. Residents are expected to participate in a monthly journal club to discuss current literature related to orthopedics and rehab.
