Dr. Timothy S. Mologne is board certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy. His special interests are in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Mologne is a native of Colorado. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated with distinction in 1984. He was selected for a Navy medical scholarship, and completed his medical school training at the University of Colorado (M.D., 1988).

Dr. Mologne has had a long and illustrious career in the U.S. Navy. He completed a surgical internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California in 1989. Following internship, he graduated from the Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute and was designated a naval flight surgeon. He spent two years as a carrier airwing flight surgeon at the Master Jet Base in Oceana, Virginia. During this time, he was deployed with his airwing aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Dr. Mologne returned to San Diego, California in 1992, and subsequently completed his orthopedic surgery training at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California.

Following residency, Dr. Mologne was assigned as an orthopedic surgeon at the Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. He distinguished himself as a leader in sports medicine and arthroscopy, and was subsequently selected by Navy to complete a fellowship in sports medicine. Dr. Mologne completed his fellowship in sports medicine and advanced arthroscopic training at the prestigious Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, California. During the fellowship, he was a team physician for both college and high school teams, and was involved in the care of many professional athletes.

Dr. Mologne has been the Director of Sports Medicine at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California since 1999. His position included teaching sports medicine and arthoscopy as part of the largest orthopedic surgery residency in the military. In addition, his practice developed into a worldwide referral center for military members with complex knee and shoulder problems. Dr. Mologne has dedicated much of his time to teaching and performing clinical research. He has published several articles and book chapters in the field of shoulder and knee surgery. In addition, he has lectured nationally on various knee and shoulder topics, and continues to be a faculty member at national meetings. Dr Mologne left the U.S. Navy in 2004, 20 years after his initial commissioning. During his career, he was honored with many teaching and research awards.

Throughout his navy career, Dr. Mologne has acquired extensive experience in the management of shoulder instability, rotator cuff injuries, and complex knee problems. Dr. Mologne is proficient in state of the art techniques including arthroscopic rotator cuff and shoulder instability repairs, as well cartilage and meniscal transplant and ligament reconstructions of the knee.

Dr. Mologne welcomes new patients and referrals. His goal is to provide patient education and state of the art orthopedic care and rehabilitation to return patients to their optimal performance. Sports Medicine Center offers and ambulatory surgical center to improve patient satisfaction and effective patient care. The ambulatory surgical center provides safe and cost efficient out-patient surgery for patients desiring minimally invasive surgery.
